AniMondays: Tokyo Godfathers

This is a Christmas present from God! She is our baby!

What is the meaning of family? When three of Tokyo's snarkiest unhoused residents find an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve, fate pushes them all across the city as they search for her parents. Relying on sheer dumb luck, or perhaps Providence, the trio deal with Yakuza assassins and runaway ambulances, all the while reckoning with their own pasts.

In Tokyo Godfathers, Satoshi Kon departs from his normal dreamlike surrealism to present a grounded tale laden with comedy, pathos, and above all, love. Kon's humanist beliefs shine through the expressive animation and emotional script; everyone is treated with the compassion and dignity we all deserve. We hope you will join us for Tokyo Godfathers and our Holiday Edition of AniMondays.
